CSS Health Technologies founded in 1984 as Custom Software Systems in Nashville, TN, originated as a software company developing hospital lab systems. Early growth was impressive and it was in these early years that CSS cultivated the relationships with rural and small community hospitals that would become the foundation of the company.
In 1996, the company expanded by acquiring Automated Health Systems from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mississippi. The acquisition of software for use by financial departments within the same customer base proved to add multiple business opportunities. Thus began the mission to provide a total enterprise solution for hospitals.
On September 1, 2010 to meet the electronic clinical needs of facilities, a merger took place between Custom Software Systems and TiCom Medical Systems, a developer of Electronic Medical Records based in Mobile, AL. Immediately, Custom Software Systems increased its product offering. Adding an office in Mobile, Alabama, while maintaining the corporate headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee further added market presence and staff capabilities. Fully certified by Drummond Group in 2011, ChartSmart EMR has enabled our clients to receive stimulus funds under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

Occasionally, an aggressive re-evaluation leads the organization to rebrand itself in order to reflect more closely its growth, changes in values or focus, or to align external and internal perceptions of its brand. Therefore, in 2011 the Company changed its name to CSS Health Technologies. CSS Health Technologies represents a renewed focus on providing rural and community hospitals the absolute best technology available industry wide with cost effective pricing.
Under the leadership of Chairman of the Board, Joe Byrum and President and CEO, Richie Wilkes, both shareholders, CSS Health Technologies has doubled employees and tripled annual revenues.
Today, CSS Health Technologies maintains its aggressive market style by continuing to add new products that are technologically advanced and forward thinking. CSS most recently announced a completely revamped, web-based state-of-the-art hospital financial software with superior data mining and business intelligence package. CSS Financial & Patient Management System assists CEO’s and CFO’s ability to increase the hospital’s revenues and return on investment.
